OFF-CUT presents a series of sculptural seating objects created by Proxima Furniture and displayed in their Collingwood Showroom. Exploring the constant iterations gone through as part of the process of designing new furniture pieces, these objects were created using materials from prototypes, off-cuts, unfinished experimental projects and old designs. Simultaneously being new design objects whilst materially referencing both realised and unrealised projects from the past, this exhibition exposes and speaks to the side of the design process that exists before final pieces are presented. Paired with object responsive botanical installations, the seating displayed will showcase materials in their honest natural states, pushing the limits of functional furniture design and sculpture.
